Asset Details
A tour of an Asset's detail tabs — modifier reports, login history, hardware, software, printers, Windows Updates, subscriptions, and checkout.
Asset Details
The Asset detail page gives you in-depth information about an asset. The tabs shown depend on the asset type and what data has been reported — if there’s no information for a tab, that tab won’t appear (a computer with no printers has no Printers tab, for example).
Asset Modifier Reports
This tab shows the status of Modifiers that have run on the asset. The Pre-Work State is the Modifier’s status before it ran on the last poll (Work Done, Work Needed, Run Always, or Indeterminate); the Current State is the status after running. The goal is generally for all Current States to read Work Done. Click a Modifier’s name to jump to its Blueprint/Modifier page, and check the Verbatim field for output or errors.
Suspended Modifiers
A Modifier that fails five times in a row is suspended and stops running on the asset until cleared. From the Modifier Report you can clear one Modifier’s suspension or all of them for this asset. Investigate why it kept failing before clearing — otherwise it just repeats wasted work and bandwidth.
Login History
Shows logins on the asset. The method indicates GCPW (Google) or AD (Microsoft Active Directory), along with the username, time, and recorded IP address.
Hardware
Polled hardware details — motherboard model and serial, OS, memory, drives, MAC addresses, user profiles present, domain, DNS addresses, last boot date, and more.
Software
Registered software on the computer, including name, version, install date, publisher, and estimated size.
Printers
Printers installed on the computer, with port, driver name, location, share name, and driver type.
Windows Updates
Current Windows Update status for the machine — whether it needs a reboot and the overall health of Windows Updates. See the Windows Updates FAQ for the full picture.
Subscriptions
Track warranties, replacement timelines, software licensing, and similar time-bound items. Set Warn Days and Alert Days to receive notifications as a subscription nears its end.
Check In / Out
Assign the asset to a person for tracking — laptops, docks, projectors, and so on. The Agent can also run Blueprints based on the checked-out user, such as making them a local admin on their assigned computer.
Active / Inactive
An Active computer checks in for Modifiers to run; an Inactive one reports only location and hardware and is unaffected by Modifiers. This currently has no impact on Chromebooks.
Group (+ / −)
Add or remove the asset from Asset Groups to manage groups at once — assigning Modifiers, waking/sleeping, and so on.
Common Questions
Why is a tab missing on my asset?
That data hasn’t been reported yet, or doesn’t apply to the asset type.
What does “Work Done” mean on a Modifier Report?
The Modifier’s task is complete; that’s the desired Current State.
A Modifier is suspended — what do I do?
Find why it failed five times, fix it, then clear the suspension from the Modifier Report.
What’s the difference between Active and Inactive?
Active assets poll for and run Modifiers; Inactive assets only report location and hardware.
Where do I see who logged into a machine?
The Login History tab, showing GCPW or AD logins with time and IP.
